Regatta Workbench Distribution:

The Regatta Workbench distribution is packaged as a zip file for Windows. If you already have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6 or higher installed on your workstation, choose the distribution with no JRE:

In case you need them, here are the Java Runtime Environments for Windows 2000/XP and Vista:

 

 

Requirements:

  • Windows 2000 or XP,
  • the JDK 1.6 and
  • a tool, such as WinZip or other utility to unzip the Workbench zip file


Installation:

You'll need a J2SE Java SDK Environment (JRE) running on your computer.

Assuming you've downloaded and successfully installed the JRE, you're ready now to install Regatta Workbench.

Unzip the Regatta Workbench downloaded program archive. The archive will create a directory called 'rw' and put the programs files in it.

That's all there is to the install.

Getting Started:

For the sake of simplifying further instructions, I'll assume it's been unpacked into C:\rw\

To launch the program:

  • Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the C:\rw directory
  • Double-click on the file called "regattaworkbench.exe"

Once it's running you can load some sample regatta data data. It is located in C:\rw\regattas. Use File->Open to open this file and you're off and running.

Once the demonstration regatta file is loaded, you can play with the program a bit. The Navigator widget on the left side has drag and drop capabilities, so have fun with that. Also, any changes made are "undoable" using the Undo/Redo toolbar buttons. As you click around the Regatta tree in the Navigator, notice the Properties Editor updating. This is where most object properties are changed.
